First Day of Testing
Well, today was our first day of testing. Of course, I won't know how they did until the results come back, but they gave their all. I was so proud of their effort! They remembered their strategies and used them. They all checked their work, they used their time wisely, and they tried their best, and as a teacher that is all that I can ask for.
Our theme for testing has been Rocking the Test (Rock Stars). We are totally rocking our strategies, so I know that my students are rocking their tests! One of the other third grade teachers created an amazing door to motivate her students. It was an electric guitar that said, "We will rock the test!". I had to follow suit and give her a singer to accompany the band (See picture below). I drew it, and then my students had fun coloring and decorating his clothing. It has made this crazy time much more fun. Especially, when you hear students tell each other to "ROCK THE TEST"!
I know how stressed testing can make everyone, and the best thing that we can do is to remember to motivate the students, but don't forget to motivate your fellow teachers. We have had so many of the WONDERFUL teachers at my school sending notes and creating banners for all of the classes that are testing. My students are reading buddies with an awesome first grade class, and they created a banner for us (See the picture below). I have felt so blessed to work with such wonderful people! So, remember to spread the motivation this week. Even if it isn't your week for testing, we can always use a little motivation.
