Oklahoma Land Run

Today, our school had our 3rd Annual Oklahoma Land Run. It was amazing. Over 300 runners signed up making it by far the most successful one yet!

I was going to run...well, let's be honest, I was going to walk and at times jog (probably slowly), but something happened as I was making out my check to sign up. Procrastination and I are friends, but it is can also be one of my greatest motivators. However, earlier this week, procrastination became my best friend. I hadn't signed up for the race yet; I just kept putting it off until the next day and then the next. I was at my desk during my plan time filling out a check for the race registration fees when my buddy, a fellow third grade teacher, came into my room in a hurry, and offered me a pretty sweet deal. She asked if I had signed up, and I told her that I was about to. She then told me that I wasn't going to and that we were going to drive the golf cart behind the runners in the 5K. Nothing is sweeter than that.

So, together, we were motivators, first-aid (thankfully, no one needed anything, not even a Band-Aid), and DJ's. I have to say the playlist was pretty awesome with hits like "Eye of the Tiger", "Livin' on a Prayer", "Don't Stop Believing", and newer hits like "Call Me Maybe". We rocked the whole way to the finish line.

All of the runners, joggers, and walkers were awesome!!! I am so proud of our community and school. We had so many people working together for a common goal: raising money for our students and our school. It makes a teacher proud to see such teamwork!

I hope that everyone has a great week, and that you are as lucky as I am to work with such amazing people!
